This year Hackney WickED CIC successfully applied for Grant for the Arts (Arts Council England) which will enable a range of commissioned work, engagement with the local businesses, and Open Studio bursaries to help artists develop their spaces for the weekend.
Be sure to check out this years successful artists who are in receipt of the HW’ED studio bursary:

Marie-Louise Jones

COCOON is a sculpture that forms part of the ‘Structures of Being’ series by Marie-Louise Jones. Composed of sculpture, film and prints of transient sculptural installations. The series attempts to give physical form to internal cognitive and emotional processes – creating structures of being.

Over the last 2 years during the production of the installation, her working process was based on intuitive beginnings, driven forward by research with Gestalt, Schema and CBT psychotherapists, leading to conceptual and physical connections of natural and manmade materials presented in suspended and freestanding forms. The short film created for the series is currently exhibited in Venice as part of Empire II, screening over 6 months for the 57th La Biennale di Venezia.
For Hackney WickED 2017 Marie-Louise will be creating a mixed-media installation in the disused gallery space at Unit 9. Comprising of film, sculpture, and a live soundscape composed by experimental musicians, the UNtitled installation features contemporary urban materials that combine and contrast with organic forms from the natural landscape. The preview night will include a live improvised performance (and recording) produced by composer Lucy Claire using materials from the installation to create an experimental piece that will provide the soundscape for the duration of the exhibition.  #hackneywicked #hwed17 #Marie-LouiseJones
